About Bergerac, France

Bergerac a town in south west France, Aguitaine, Dorgdogne and the region is also known as Périgord. Parts of Bergerac town date back to medieval times and there are many fascinating half- timbered streets and ancient buildings.

The surrounding area is known as the Pays de Bergerac and is a beautiful area with rolling green hills and many vineyards surrounding the Dordogne river. The beautiful countryside is protected and there are 12 recognised wines grown in the region. The National Tobacco Museum can be found in Bergerac and tobacco is still an important crop grown in the Pays de Bergerac.

Bergerac and the surrounding area can be reached by the Bergerac-Roumanière airport which has flights to many international airports making it an easy accessible holiday area. There are lots of sights to see such as the many Bastides which are walled towns, chateaux and churches, and many picturesque villages. And there is lots to do for the whole family including, walking, cycling, boat trips on the river, visiting a vineyard, local markets selling fresh produce and the many festivals in the Pays de Bergerac area.
